We have all seen the gorgeous wrought iron railing that many people have in their homes and yards. These fences are made in a few different steps to ensure that they are high quality and sturdy.
Wrought iron is made of square tubing that is then welded to more tubing to ensure that it is strong and durable. These fences can be made with small pieces that are welded together in each piece, but this does cost more.
You can also get a large channel that has holes already punched in it where the rails are then put down through the holes and held in place, this gives a similar effect with less work and less cost.
Wrought iron takes time and effort in that it has to be measured, it has to be cut, it has to be put together, and has to be welded. The welding keeps the pieces in place so that they can stay strong and sturdy as the years go on. Unlike something like chain link fence, wrought iron does have to be welded and ground in order to ensure that is going to stay together and hold up.
