Did you know that your furry friend needs to be groomed frequently? Pet grooming is done not only for aesthetics but also to maintain good health. The attached video gives tips on how to groom your pet.
It’s important to trim the hair around the eyes, ears, and paws cautiously. If you’ve never cut your dog’s hair before, don’t attempt to as it may cause cuts and injuries.
When bathing it, ensure the coat is completely wet before applying shampoo that’s specifically for dogs. After applying shampoo, give a thorough massage, and be careful it doesn’t go in the eyes, ears, and mouth.
After shampooing, rinse it off thoroughly. Any shampoo left on the dog will cause skin irritation. For dog hair that’s prone to matting, use a comb and a slicker brush. Don’t brush continuously over the same area as it can cause brush burn. Brush in the direction of growth. Use a detangler if necessary. Use an undercoat grooming rake for double-coated dogs. Use a rubber brush for short-coated dogs.
Make a grooming schedule and stick to it to ensure your pooch stays groomed, and the hair doesn’t get matted. If you’re unable to groom your furball, take it to a professional groomer.
