townhomes in your school districtBuying a new home is one of the most exciting things you can do in your life. Looking for the ideal location in the ideal neighborhood where you and your family can put down your roots should mark for an exhilarating time in your life, but most of the time it ends up being stressful. The market for new homes is always changing, including exactly what type of home you are looking for.

If you are in the market for luxury townhomes, your search is even more refined than just those looking at homes for sale. You need to consider if you’re looking at townhomes near your school district, what kind of lifestyle in a new home community you’ll have, and what desirable location you want to be in. There’s at least a hundred other elements, but we’re here to show you how recent homebuyers have used the internet and their realtor to help them make sense of all the information at our fingertips.

First, lets go over how much the internet truly influences how people view new homes. According to a recent study, 92% of homebuyers now use the internet when looking for a new home. With the amount of information on these sites, it is not all that surprising to see that number so high. 82% of homebuyers, no matter what kind of house they are in the market for, found home buying websites to be very useful.

The websites are incredibly useful, but they do add more time to the home buying process. The typical buyer who did not use the internet during their home search spent 5 weeks searching through new homes. Meanwhile, those who did use the internet for searches looked for 10 weeks and visited on average 10 homes. So the internet made the search longer, but most agreed that it was a useful tool.

While all of this seems to be pointing at using the internet is the only way to go, there is still some use in realtors. 78% of homebuyers found their realtor useful, going to show that they can help in ways the internet cannot. Whether that is showing you the nooks and crannies of new homes you didn’t see, scheduling appointments, and helping you understand the ins and outs of the housing market, there are great things realtors can do to help with your search.

The bottom line is that the internet is an incredibly helpful tool when you’re in the market for a new home, but realtors should not be forgotten either. There is a happy medium where you can use both to your advantage and you’ll be able to find that dream home for you and your family.
